Today we celebrate the 515th anniversary of Columbus's landing in the New World, which actually took place of October 12, 1492.
Columbus Day has been a federal holiday since 1937, thanks in large part to the Knights of Columbus. It has been designated as the second Monday in October since 1971.
This past Saturday, the City of Rochester held its first Columbus Day Parade!
